WHAT WE DID
Summit Construction performed demolition and lead abatement on the 3rd and 4th floors of the Sidney Yates building. The project was performed as an emergency response project due to lead-based paint-contaminated ceiling plaster being damaged and falling in the main corridors. The project was scheduled to be done over a period of 7 weekends starting on Friday nights and working through Sunday evenings. The project required fully contained work areas to prevent cross-contamination while abating and performing demolition. There was a third-party Industrial Hygienist on site to monitor air quality inside and outside of the containment at all times during the shifts. Because of the urgency to get this project completed, Summit Construction worked to increase the crew size from 15 workers to 32 workers to expedite the project. Although this was a fast-track project, the project was completed 4 weekends ahead of schedule without incident. (Note: The project was done below the Government Estimate and was 4 weeks ahead of the projected schedule.)
